About Us

We are Bev and Pat Hicks, pastors of Northland Faith Church in Haliburton, ON. Seventeen years ago, God led us to start a church here, following our leadership roles in the Durham region. Since 2008, our vision has been to create a place where people can experience the power of God in their lives.

I (Bev) hold a diploma in theology, and both Pat and I are licensed ministers, serving the Lord for over 30 years. Beyond Northland Faith Church, I (Bev) also serve on the board of the Association of Faith Churches and Ministries of Canada. We are proud parents of two adult children, Joel and Rachel. We look forward to welcoming you to Northland Faith Church, a place to encounter God’s love and life-changing power.

Our Vision

Northland Faith Church exists to share the hope and love of God with the Haliburton community and surrounding areas.

What We Believe

The Word of God

1 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 3:15-16

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate guide for all matters of faith and conduct. In its original form, it is without error and fully sufficient to reveal God’s truth.

The Godhead

Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe in one eternal God, existing in three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are fully God and perfectly united as one.

The Church

Ephesians 1:22; 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23; John 17:11, 20-23

We believe the church is the Body of Christ, called to be His dwelling place through the Holy Spirit. Every believer is an essential part of this body, united in purpose and mission to carry out Christ’s Great Commission.

Humanity

Genesis 1-3; Romans 3:10-18

We believe that God created humanity, that man was tested and fell into sin, and that every person is spiritually incapable of attainng righteousness apart from God’s grace.

Jesus Christ

Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 4:25

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He is the Savior of the world, who died for our sins, was buried, rose on the third day, and appeared to His disciples.

Christ’s Ascension and Return

John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus into heaven, His exaltation at the Father’s right hand, and His personal, literal return for His church.

Salvation

Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11

We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, who alone provides forgiveness of sins.

Baptism and Communion

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:34-36; 19:1-6; 1 Corinthians 11:28-32

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as an act of obedience to Christ’s command. We also observe the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of His sacrifice.

Baptism and Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-46; Galatians 3:14-15; 1 Corinthians 12-14

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience following salvation and in the operation of spiritual gifts, as demonstrated in the early church.

Spirit-Filled Life and Holiness

Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1

We believe that believers are called to live Spirit-filled lives, marked by separation from the world and growing in holiness as an expression of true faith.

Healing

Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 12:9; James 5:14-16

We believe in God’s power to heal, as demonstrated in the ministry of the early church.

Eternal Destiny

Mark 9:43-48; John 3:16; 5:24; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:10-15; Matthew 25:41

We believe in eternal life for those who trust in Jesus Christ and eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. We affirm the reality of Satan and his ultimate judgment.
